frequently asked questions

What is a fan zine?
A fan zine is a compliation of works, in this case both written works and illustrations/comics, that are published in a booklet. All the works are based on a certain exisiting series, hence why it is a "fan" zine.
Who can apply?
Anyone over the age of 16! We are looking for both page/merch artists and writers for this project.
What are the guidelines for applications?
These can be found on our "Guidelines" page.
Is this project for-profit or charity?
The project's aim is mainly to cover the production costs for contributor bundles. Any leftover profit after production and shipping will be donated to charity! The organization we will donate to will be decided amongst the chosen contributors at a later date.
What's the theme and rating?
The zine contents will be SFW and there's no central theme assigned, which mean each contributor has full creative freedom over their pieces as long as they follow our guidelines. Both AUs and canon-compliant works will be featured.
Can I edit my application after I submit it?
Yes, you're allowed to edit your application after you submit! To do so, please follow the link in the confirmation email you received after filling out the form for the first time. We request that applicants refrain for sending duplicate applications.
Please note that applicants won't be able to edit their responses after the application period has closed.
How do I know if I have been accepted? Will I get feedback on reasons for rejection if I’m not accepted?
We will send emails to all applicants to inform them whether they have been accepted or not. Regarding feedback, since our team is very small, we might not be able to give feedback to everyone. Unfortunately, as the number of spaces is limited, we can’t accept every applicant, so we hope you do not take it personally if we are unable to offer you a spot. Whether you are accepted or not is not a reflection of the quality of your work.
Are spoilers allowed?
Yes! We will allow fanworks with spoilers.
Can I apply as a writer and an artist?
Yes, but keep in mind that while you'll be considered for both positions, you may only be accepted for one position!
Are traditional artworks acceptable?
Yes, we will accept traditional works as long as you can provide a clean scan with a resolution of at least 300dpi for your final submission.
Are we allowed to post/preview our work?
Throughout the duration of the project, contributors must not share, post or publish the full piece they’re doing for the zine. We also request that contributors refrain from sharing excerpts of the piece on social media during the creation process. We will allot a period for previews right before the zine release and will also give a date for publishing the finished pieces. Contributors will be notified about the specific dates at a further time.
How many contributors are you planning to include?
Right now, we are considering about 18 artists and 10 writers. This is subject to change.
How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors are guaranteed a physical copy of the zine, a high-def PDF of the zine and any digital merch we offer. Full merch bundles and free shipping will be given to contributors if sales allow. As a last resort, if we can't cover the merch, it will be offered to contributors at cost/base value.

app guidelines

General
» All applicants are required to submit three samples of what they consider to be their best work as well as an additional link to a portfolio.
» If the samples or portfolio are in Google Drive, please test the links before you submit and make sure they’re viewable. Failing to follow this rule may result in instant disqualification.
» Haikyuu and/or OsaKita samples are encouraged, but not mandatory. We will still judge your application.
» NSFW samples are allowed but we request that we’re forewarned about them. If there’s any possible triggering content, include a note of this as well.
Writers
» Writing samples should have a maximum of 2000 words each. Excerpts of longer pieces are acceptable.
» One sample should be a completed story within our word count limit --- 1k-1.5k.
» Portfolios can be Ao3 accounts, Google Drive, etc.
» Writers will be judged based on the overall structure of the piece, characterization, grammar, spelling and tone.
Artists/Merch artists
» Art samples should be completed pieces. Traditional art is acceptable as long as it has great image quality.
» At least one sample must include a background.
» Portfolios can be Google Drive, a specified Tumblr tag, Carrd, etc.
» Artists will be judged based on general composition, anatomy, use of space and use of color.

alex - production and shipping

Hey there I’m Alex. This is my first time being a part of zine and I’m eager to learn and grow from this experience! I have 7 years of experiencing shipping from a previous job which will be beneficial in getting the zine and merchandise in a timely and effective manner. I do enjoy writing and playing video games when I have the time. I enjoy the OsaKita pairing because of the reciprocal relationship they have as adults in relation to their businesses!
